Community rules

1. Truthful advertising

• Use your real name or registered business name.
• Only list trades and parishes you actually serve.
• State your real years of experience.
• Only upload photos of your own work, your team, your tools or your premises. No stock photos, no other people's work, no other businesses' logos or watermarks.
• Do not claim licences, certifications, insurance, awards or affiliations you do not hold.
• If you mention prices, they must be honest. No hidden fees or bait-and-switch.
• Do not copy or imitate JamaicaBoard badges (Verified, Founder) in your photos or text.
• One ad per business. No duplicate ads, fake names or keyword stuffing to game search results.

2. Pro code of conduct

• Reply honestly and on time. If you can't take a job, say so.
• Agree price, scope and timing with the customer before starting, preferably in writing, and give receipts.
• Show up when agreed, or let the customer know in advance.
• Respect customers' homes, property, privacy and safety.
• No harassment, threats, abusive language or discrimination of any kind.
• Never ask a customer for their verification code, bank PIN or passwords.
• Use customer contact details only to arrange and follow up the job you were contacted about.

3. Review rules

• Reviews must be honest and based on your own experience with the pro.
• Do not review yourself, your family, your employer or a competitor.
• Pros must not pay, offer discounts or gifts for reviews, or pressure customers to change or remove a review.
• No personal information (addresses, phone numbers, ID numbers) in reviews or replies.
• Pros may reply once, publicly and professionally. No threats or retaliation against reviewers.

4. Banned trades and services

The following may not be advertised on JamaicaBoard under any category:

• Anything illegal in Jamaica, or any service that requires a licence the pro does not hold.
• Sale or supply of drugs, controlled substances or cannabis products, and prescription medicines.
• Firearms, ammunition, explosives or weapons, and related repairs or training.
• Adult, sexual or escort services.
• Gambling, lottery schemes, "investment" or pyramid schemes, and multi-level-marketing recruitment.
• Money lending, debt collection or credit repair without the required licence.
• Fake or altered documents: IDs, certificates, visas, titles or references.
• Visa, immigration or overseas job "guarantees", and any job offer that asks for an upfront fee.
• Hacking, SIM swaps, phone unlocking of lost or stolen devices, or surveillance of people without their consent.
• Counterfeit goods, stolen goods, and the sale of wild or protected animals.
• Alcohol and tobacco in any form, including e-cigarettes and vapes. Bars, rum shops and restaurants may advertise as a Business, as long as the ad does not sell or promote alcohol or tobacco as a product.
• Vehicles without proper documents, or with altered chassis numbers.
• Medical, dental or cosmetic procedures by anyone not legally licensed to perform them.
• Employment ads. JamaicaBoard is for advertising services, not for hiring staff.

5. Content standards

• No hate speech, violence, nudity or sexual content.
• No political or religious campaigning.
• No personal information about other people without their permission.
• English, Spanish and Patois are all welcome. Keep it clear and respectful.

6. How we enforce these rules

Depending on how serious the problem is, we may ask you to fix your ad, hide content, remove badges, suspend your ad, or permanently ban you. Illegal activity may be reported to the Jamaica Constabulary Force or other authorities. Moderation decisions are recorded, and you can ask us to review a decision by contacting us.

7. Reporting a problem
